Performance Settings : Getting the most out of your Mac®

Get the most efficient use out of your computers' RAM

This preference helps you get the most efficient use out of the RAM (read only memory) in your computer. Follow the instructions in the window to set the optimum amount of memory for your system. You may be able to access much more memory on your computer than is currently set.

If AVA is the sole application run on your Mac®, we recommend that you allocate 80% of your RAM to AVA simply by clicking Set For Me.

If you plan to use other memory hungry applications such as those from the Adobe® Suite at the same time as AVA, we recommend you set AVA to use 40%. This will leave suffice memory for AVA and Adobe® to use, whilst saving a little aside for the operating system, to run well.

Selecting a Scratch Disk

If you have more than one hard drive on your computer, you are able to select the other disk(s) to be used by AVA as a Scratch Disk. Select the disk with the most space available space. As a rule, the disk space available must be at least 3 times the size of the designs being used (in MB). You should keep the internal hard disk as free as possible.

Note: If you perform a task which causes the scratch disk to become full, you can open the Performance Settings and select a different disk, enabling you to run the task again.
