Exporting a file from 3D Designer to an engraving Mac®hine

When you have finished editing the greyscale height maps and gloss layers using the 3D Designer Window, you are ready to export the data to either a 3D printer, or an engraving Mac®hine.  This article explains how you do this.

How you export the layers does depend on how the output device requires them.  Normally, you need to export each layer separately.

  1. Activate the height map and gloss layers in the Layers Palette.

  2. Go to Layer Menu > Save Selected Layers Separately.
  3. Save the layers in TIFF format. A separate file will be saved for each active layer.
Delete

Note: The settings you select in the TIFF dialog box which opens when you save the file depends on the settings the output device requires.

  1. Send the files to the output device using your network or an external hard drive.
