This Palette is designed to re-render an existing solid outline with a new width. The new outline is created as a separate spot layer which can be recoloured. The width of the new outline can also be edited within the working of the Palette itself.
The steps performed in the ‘Line Thickness’ Palette
The Palette duplicates a selected layer and applies a thinning filter to the duplicate, reducing it down to only a pixel thick. The pixel outline is then snap selected and the selection grown out to the width specified in the Palette.
How to use the ‘Line Thickness’ Palette
- Select and make active the outline layer you wish to re-render.
- Click the ‘Line Thickness’ palette. A new ‘black’ layer containing the adjusted outline will appear at the bottom of the layer list.
How to edit the ‘Line Thickness’ final outline width
- Hold ⌥ (option key) and click on the Palette to enter the editing window.
- Locate the ‘Grow’ entry and click its edit icon.
- Enter the required width amount in the appropriate units.
