Copying colourways and colourway objects in the Layout Window

Copying and pasting colourways, custom colour chips and text

Copying and pasting colourways and objects such as custom shaped colour chips, text and shapes in the Layout Window is a very useful feature as it speeds up the creation of your presentations. You can copy and paste any object within the Layout Window, and even between different Layout Windows.

This means, if you have set up a Layout Window and it contains objects you want to have in a new window, you can simply copy and paste them over. You can also drag and drop objects between files in the Layout Window.

Copying and pasting in the same Layout Window

  1. Select one or more objects and go to Edit Menu > Copy (⌘C).
  2. Go to Edit Menu > Paste (⌘V). The new copy of the object is pasted directly over the original.
  3. Drag the new copy to the required position on the page.

Copying and pasting between different Layout Windows

Use the method above to copy and paste items from one layout to another. Simply copy from one Layout Window, then activate another and paste into it.

Alternatively, drag and drop selected objects directly from one open Layout Window to another. The selected objects are immediately copied to the destination page.

Note: Dragging and dropping or copying and pasting master document colourways may result in placement of a blank colourway object. In this case, the object can be linked back to the original design by holding down ^ (control key) and clicking in the empty box, then selecting the relevant file name from the list.
