Gamma: Adding the Gamma Window to a Palette

Automate the adjustment of tones in a design

Building Palettes which perform a variety of tasks at the click of a button is an extremely powerful feature of AVA. Palettes can range from being very simple, like creating a new document at a specific size and with a specific repeat drop, to more complex tasks like kick starting a colour separation.

Adding a gamma curve, which may simulate production data, can be added to a Palette workflow, is very easy to do.  Just follow these steps:

  1. Go to Edit Menu > Gamma.
  2. Edit the curve, or load a curve in by holding down ^ (control key) on the keyboard and clicking on the Gamma Window, and select Open.
  3. Now, do one of the following:
    • open an existing Palette, and open the editor by holding down ⌥ (option key) on the keyboard
    • go to File Menu > New > Palette to create a new Palette
  4. Drag the Palette Handler from the Gamma Window to the new Palette, or into the editor of an existing Palette.
