Printing to a printer driven directly by AVA

On your design station follow these steps to connect to the print queue on the server station.

  1. In the Finder, go to Go Menu > Connect to Server and type in the IP address of the server station. If you do not know the IP address, click on Browse and a list of computers on your network should appear, then select the print server computer from the list.

Note: The computer you are connecting to must allow Guest Access before you will be able to connect to it as a guest. To do this, on the computer you are connecting to, go to the  Menu > System Settings and select Users & Groups. Click the padlock and enter your admin password. Then click on the Guest User on the left hand side. Tick Allow guest users to connect to shared folders.

  1. On the computer you are printing from, launch AVA and choose File Menu > Printer Type > and choose the relevant printer driver such as AVA Server Mimaki.
  2. Set the page set-up to be approximately the same width and height as the printable area of your selected paper. The name of the page set-up is not important, but we recommend you enter the page dimensions in the name.
  3. Go to File Menu > Print… to send a print from AVA to the server station.

Note: The first time you send a print you will need to click on the Save As button to define the printing path and select the appropriate print queue. After this, for every subsequent print sent from AVA to the same print queue, click on the Save button. The software will recognise the printing path and all prints will automatically go to this folder. When you need to send to a different queue, click on Save As again to set a new path to this queue instead.

Spool files will be named with the file name and the time sent. They will remain in the queue until the printer has finished printing the current job.
