Understanding vector layers

Mathematical layers, independent of scale and resolution

Vectors can be created either by drawing them directly using one of the Vector tools, or by converting an existing raster object into a vector. You can create as many objects and have as many vector layers as you like. They are fully editable and they are automatically saved in the .ava4 file format.

Adding a vector layer to your design

In the Layers Palette, click on the Vector Layer button.

If you already had a design open when you clicked the Vector Layer button, a vector layer will be added to the bottom of the layer list in the active colour. If you didn’t have a design open when you clicked on the Vector Layer button, a new file will be created containing one vector layer in the active colour. The new file will be created at the size last used in File > New.
