Setting a third party profile in the AVA CMS Controller

The AVA CMS Controller application has the ability to use icc profiles created by third party monitor calibrations applications such as EIZO’s Color Navigator application.

Unlike AVA’s MonitorCal which works generically on a more manual basis, much of the manufacturer based applications harness the control of the monitor’s native controls such as brightness and contrast, adjusting them automatically to defined calibration targets and creating an accurate colour profile much quicker. The profile is then set as the main system profile, accessed through ColorSync. This profile can then be set in the AVA CMS Controller for use throughout the AVA workflow.

Setting these profiles in the AVA CMS Controller can help to reduce the visual difference between AVA and Third Party applications such as Adobe® ’s Photoshop®™ and Illustrator®™, which have different viewing conditions to AVA.

In the Finder Window, go to Applications > AVA 5.x > AVA Utilities and launch the AVA CMS Controller application.

  1. Go to  Menu > System Settings .
  2. Click on the Displays icon, and in the window which opens, click on the Colour tab.
  3. Click on the highlighted profile on the left hand side of the window.
  4. Click ‘Open Profile’ and the highlighted profile will open into the ColorSync application.
  5. Drag the proxy icon from the top of the ColorSync profile window into the monitor profile box of the AVA CMS Controller.
