Colour match from screen to print is critical to most of our customers, and to achieve optimal results we believe in investing in good hardware. ColorEdge EIZO monitors have fast become a favourite within the industry, so calibrating them correctly is very important.
If your EIZO monitor is not a ColorEdge model, visit EIZO’s website for the best profiling solution. AVA’s Monitor Cal application may produce the results you need.
Before you begin, you should make sure you are using the latest version of Color Navigator. It can be downloaded from here.
Some EIZO’s, such as the CG246 and CG247 models have built-in spectrophotometers. Others can be calibrated using your i1Pro2 instrument. Below are the basic instructions for using Color Navigator. If you need to use the advanced settings, please refer to the user manual.
Using an i1pro2/3
- Connect your 1iPro2 to your Mac® using a USB cable
- Launch Color Navigator. The following window will open:
- Select Web Design from the options on the left hand side of the window. This will set the white point of the monitor to 6500K, and the gamma curve to 2.2.
- Put the i1Pro2 on it’s calibration tile.
- Select Adjust from the options listed on the right hand side of the window
- Select i1Pro/Pro2/Monitor from the Measurement Device drop down menu. The following window will appear:
- Double check the instrument is sat flat on the calibration tile, and click ‘Initialize’
- Connect the i1Pro2 to the monitor calibration attachment:
- Hang the instrument over the monitor, ensuring it sits within the guidelines on the screen:
- Click Proceed. The calibration process will take a couple of minutes, after which the following window will appear:
Remove the instrument from the screen, and note the location of the newly created profile:
Home user / Library /ColorSync® / Profiles / profile name.icc
- Keeping the above window open, navigate to the above folder and locate the newly created profile.
- Launch the AVA CMS Controller Application
- Click on the Profiles tab
- Drag the new profile from the Finder into the Monitor Profile box
- Go back to the Color Navigator application and click Finish
Using the built-in device
Using the built-in device for profiling your EIZO could not be easier.
- Launch Color Navigator. The following window will appear:
- Select Web Design from the options on the left hand side of the window. This will set the white point of the monitor to 6500K, also known as D65, or daylight
- Select Adjust from the options on the right hand side
- Select the Built-in Device from the Measurement Device drop down menu
- Click Next
- A window will open, reminding you not to operate any function on the monitor while calibration is in process. Click Proceed.
- The built in device will appear from the bottom of the screen and calibration will take place.
- The calibration process will take a couple of minutes, after which the following window will appear:
- Remove the instrument from the screen, and note the location of the newly created profile:
Home user / Library /ColorSync® / Profiles / profile name.icc
Keeping the above window open, navigate the the above folder and locate the newly created profile
- Launch the AVA CMS Controller Application
- Click on the Profiles tab
- Drag the new profile from the Finder into the Monitor Profile box
- Go back to the Color Navigator application and click Finish
