You can change the origin or start point of a design which is useful if you want to move the layout of a single repeat in order to improve the overall presentation of the design. If a design has already been put into repeat, the software will work out how the repeat fits in the design file with the new origin, effectively wrapping it round to fit its new placement correctly.
- Open a design which has been put into repeat.
- Put the design into repeat using the repeat options at the bottom of the Design Window or by opening the Repeat Window from the View Menu. We recommend putting it into 2 x 2 repeats.
- Move the cursor to the approximate place where you want the new origin to be on the design and make a note of the x and y coordinates from the Info Window.
- Go to Edit Menu > Set Origin. A sheet will open prompting you to enter the figures for the new top and left coordinates.
- Upon entering these a crop box will be created starting at the new top, left origin of the design. The size of the box is determined by the repeat size of the design. In the snapshot below, this is highlighted yellow.
- Select the Crop Tool from the Tools Palette and move the crop box if necessary.
- Crop the file.
