Pick Up: Creating Partial Images at the click of a button

Lift and create Partial Images quickly from an active selection and image layer using the Pick Up function. Pick up can be found in the Layer Menu or added to the toolbar at the top of the Design Window.

When working within one design, Pick Up can be used to automatically take a selected area and turn it into a separate layer, known as a Partial Image.

  1. Activate the image by clicking on its pencil icon in the Layers Palette.
  2. Draw a selection around the motif using one of the selection tools such as the Lasso Tool or Magnetic Lasso Tool.
  3. Go to Layer Menu > Pick Up, or click on the Pick up button in the toolbar

The selected information will be copied to a new layer and if the original artwork has an embedded profile, this will also be copied to the new Partial Image, which can be moved around the design using the Origin Tool.
Partial Images created using Pick Up will be placed in the same position in the design as the original selection and marked by grey, circular nodes, making them easily distinguishable from the square nodes of regular selections.
