Importing scans from 3D scanners has the benefit of bringing in the true structure of the scanned product into AVA, and this is perfect for recreating in-register 3D detail. However, all over textures are just as important, and these can be merged into your scans in a few simple steps.

Importing textures
- Open the scan you want to import the texture into.
- Go to Layer Menu > Load Layers
- Go to Window Menu > 3D Designer, and click on the structure block beside the layer you have just imported.
- Adjust the slider to control the height of the structure (in microns - μm), or click on the value to enter this manually.
- Edit the texture layer in the Design Window to fix any problems on the repeat joins.
