CAD Studio printers

Looking after your studio printer to main colour and quality

Lines or banding showing in prints

This first thing to do would be to run a nozzle check on your printer.  You can either do this from the printers from control panel or from the printer's Utility, see example below.  The specific interface will vary depending on the model or printer and Mac®OS version.

If you see in the Nozzle check that some heads are blocked, you were run a cleaning cycle then check the nozzles again until they are all working as expected.

If the nozzle check is good, but your still getting lins, you should check the Printer Head Alignment. Again this can normally be done from the printer's own control panel or from the printer's Utility (as shown above).

Looking after your Studio or CAD printer

Most printer manufacturers will have recommended environmental conditions for their printer to work at.  If you look at the documentation that came with the printer it will state what temperature range etc. that the printer should be kept  at.  If you do not do this, it likely that the printer will not last as long as it should, you might get blocked nozzles more frequently or the colour output could be unstable.  As well as the being keep in the right operating temperature range most printers should also be keep in a clean environment with minimal dust.

Use the correct media for your printer, this does not necessarily have to be media from the printer manufacturer themselves, but should be media intended for the type of printer you have.  Generally cheaper media will produce a weaker colour gamut and has more potential to vary of batches.

Use the printer regularly, inkjet printers in particular are design to use, left for long periods the head can dry up which could be expensive to replace. So even you don't need to do any printing it's a good idea to run test prints on the printer rather than it being sat idle for too long.

Use the latest printer drivers, there will be reason for any driver updates, so using the latest if more likely to give you the best user experience.
