Some wide format printers and smaller models of printer do not need a rip to run, we can use the Mac®OS® driver to control these printers.
It is always best to follow the manufacturers instructions regarding installing the Mac®OS® driver. There are some generic instructions of how this process usually works below.
- Locate the appropriate driver for your printer paying attention to your OS X®®. Usually this can be done via google, the Epson models can be found here: https://www.epson.co.uk/en_GB/support
- Once you have installed the driver go to Mac®® System Settings > Printers and Scanners
- Click 'Add Printer'. A list will come up of available printers on your network (ensure the printer is on the same network, or if using USB that it is plugged in)
- Once this has been completed the printer is installed and you can start to print from AVA
- In AVA go to File Menu : Printer Type and select Mac®OS Printer
- Go to File Menu : Page Setup and set your page size according to the printer specifications (this may be sheets or a roll depending on your printer)
- Go to File Menu : Print and you can start to print your design. We recommend profiling your printer before printing to ensure a good colour match.
