Installing a Mac®OS® driver for your printer

installing a printer

Some wide format printers and smaller models of printer do not need a rip to run, we can use the Mac®OS® driver to control these printers.

It is always best to follow the manufacturers instructions regarding installing the Mac®OS® driver. There are some generic instructions of how this process usually works below.

  1. Locate the appropriate driver for your printer paying attention to your OS X®®. Usually this can be done via google, the Epson models can be found here: https://www.epson.co.uk/en_GB/support
  2. Once you have installed the driver go to Mac®® System Settings > Printers and Scanners
  3. Click 'Add Printer'. A list will come up of available printers on your network (ensure the printer is on the same network, or if using USB that it is plugged in)
  4. Once this has been completed the printer is installed and you can start to print from AVA
  5. In AVA go to File Menu : Printer Type and select Mac®OS Printer
  6. Go to File Menu : Page Setup and set your page size according to the printer specifications (this may be sheets or a roll depending on your printer)
  7. Go to File Menu : Print and you can start to print your design. We recommend profiling your printer before printing to ensure a good colour match.
