Print Options: Dealing with colour inconsistency across the width of the printer

Flip each page as it prints

A common problem in wide format digital printing is colour inconsistency across the width of the printer.  Mostly noticed in the wallpaper industry, the problem increases with the size of the printer and can be further emphasised by more sensitive materials such as PVC based substrates. These colour differences are often not seen until you hang the wallpaper, when a slight vignette of colour becomes apparent from left to right.

To combat this anomaly, Print Options will flip each page as it prints, resulting in a seamless edge-to-edge match when the wallpaper is hung.

  1. Go to File Menu > Print Options and choose how to flip every second page by clicking on the top right hand R.

  2. Set a file-specific overlap at the top of the window and click OK. This overrides the global overlap setting in the Printer Settings .
  3. Go to File Menu > Page Set up.
  4. Enter the width and height of the page and click OK.
  5. Go to File Menu > Print... and print the document using your normal settings.
