Cropping weave designs

When cropping the design smaller, the number of ends or picks are decreased by cutting the design, reducing its dimensions. The design will be updated immediately and you may need to scroll the plans to show their remaining areas. When cropping the design bigger, the number of ends or picks are increased by cutting the design, increasing its dimensions. You will need to update the design and plans to see the change.

  1. Double click on the Crop Tool in the Tools Palette and enter the new dimensions needed in the width and height dialog boxes.

Note: If the Left and Top boxes are set to 0, the additional areas will be added to the bottom and right of the design. If the new areas are required at the top and right of the design, you will need to enter a minus number in the Top box (so that the extra is added above the existing design). For example, to increase a design which is 76 ends by 76 picks to 80 ends and 80 picks and add the extra ends and picks to the top and right of the design, the figures would be entered as follows: Left 0, Top -4, Width 80, Height 80.

  1. Click OK and a box will be shown over the design.

  2. With the Crop Tool still selected in the Tools Palette, double click inside the box and the extra ends and picks will be added to the design.

  3. Click in the Pegplan Window and go to Edit Menu > Select All (⌘A).
  4. Go to Edit Menu > Copy (⌘C).
  5. Go to Edit Menu > Paste (⌘V). This will update the existing pegplan in the design.
  6. Enter any extra pattern required in the Pegplan Window and the design will be completed over the new area.
  7. Open the Threading Window and scroll across to the far right of the window. Check that the draft in the additional ends follows the same repeat pattern as the rest of the design and update it if not.

Tip: When a design is cropped larger, the new area is added using the background colour set the Tools Palette. If you want your new borders to adopt a colour from the original weave, set this colour as the background colour by using the Pipette Tool to ⌥ (option key) click on that colour. That colour will appear in the Tools Palette, and your new borders will be applied in that colour.

Note: If you need to add a border all the way around your weave, you should use the Extend Design Document feature listed in the Related Articles below.
