Adding a printer

Learn how to install and set up a printer with your computer and network.

Adding The Initial Printer

Upon launching the RIP for the first time, you will be asked to add a Printer. The RIP cannot operate without at least one printer added.

PrintFactory will then display a list of available printers on the licence.

Select a printer in the list. Info such as IP address if relevant will also be required here.

The options tab lists allows further set up of how the RIP processes it's jobs (for example you can request to 'Hold All Jobs' rather than them go straight to print) and also specify where physically the job files are stored on the system (Work Folder).

As PrintFactory installs can be virtually anywhere on the same network, you can, for example, install the RIP on other Macs or PCs and it will find the licence server (initial installation) and present the same list of available printers. Users can therefore run all printers from the same RIP station OR choose to have different systems for different printers. As the licence is cloud based this makes it very flexible in it's set up.

Adding Subsequent Printers

To add a subsequent printer to an existing RIP setup (providing it is available on the licence - check Software Manager), simply go to File > Output Device > New. The same options listed above will be presented.
