The Layout Window can be used to print a variety of things including printing; samples of multiple colourways, templates to use as a sales tool, and to print panels of large files such as wall murals with a guarantee the panels will repeat when cut and hung on the wall. This is not an extensive list of what the Layout Window can be used for.
Printers can be connected to your Mac® and used in any of the following ways:
- directly to the computer using a USB or Firewire cable
- via a network
- via a shared computer using Printer Sharing
- using the AVA Digital Print RIP via a print server computer
For more information on the above printing methods, contact AVA Technical Support.
Selecting the Printer Type
As there are several ways to print from AVA (depending on how your printer is connected to your computer or network), it is necessary to select the correct Printer Type before you are able to print.
Go to File Menu > Printer Type and select the appropriate option from the list. As a general rule, if your printer is connected directly to your or your colleagues computer, you will choose Mac®OSXPrinter. If you print through a rip, you will choose one of the other drivers in that list.
Call AVA Technical Support for advice and assistance with which option to select if you are unsure.
Setting the Page Setup
Go to File Menu > Page Setup… or click on the Page Setup button in the toolbar.
Allocate the size, orientation and resolution of your print. The window that opens will vary depending on which Printer Type you have selected and which type of printer you are using. Enter the information you require to suit your printer and paper.
Sending the file to print
Once the Printer Type and the Page Setup have been selected, your design can be sent to print. Make sure the desired images or layers are visible and choose File Menu > Print or click on the Print button in the toolbar.
The window that opens will vary depending on which Printer Type you have selected and what type of printer you are using. There may be additional settings to go through before clicking OK. Call AVA Technical Support for advice and assistance if you are unsure.
