You can add a header, footer or even head test strips to a printed design. The idea behind this feature is to add as much information about the print and specify the file name, date, time, ink settings and profile used to print this design as possible. Having this information on the print makes it easier to reproduce the same design at a later date.
Go to Queue Menu > Page Layout… or click on the Page Layout button in the toolbar.
Using Dynamic Text as Headers and Footers
At the top right of the Header and Footer fields, the Dynamic Text menu is available (%%) to help speed up the process of adding information to your prints as it automatically detects the date, time, ink setting, ink level, job name, page number, application being printed from, queue name, printer settings, source profile, printer profile and ink usage.
In addition to the Dynamic Text tags available, you can also type extra information in the Header and Footer fields which is specific to a design or perhaps to indicate the person who printed the design.
The text font and size can be changed by clicking on the Set button which opens the system Fonts window. Choose any of the fonts from your Font Book application.
To define the margin between the Header/ Footer and the printed design, indicate the distance required in millimetres in the Margin fields.
A channel number defines the ink colour used for the text in the Header and Footer. This may be different from one printer to another, based on the ink order in the printer.
Printing Head Test Strips
By printing Head Test Strips, you know whether or not a head is blocked and how it will impact on the printed design. The size and position of the Head Test Strips are defined using the Margin and Width fields. The channels to be printed can be set either on the left or right of the print, or both.
