AVA Texture Mapping offers a catalogue of pre-gridded scenes which can be downloaded free of charge, straight to your AVA software, and ready to be used in seconds. These scenes are ideal for use when you are working against the clock, as we have done all the hard work for you. All you have to do is transfer your design onto the scene.
Downloading the scenes
To browse and download these scenes, go to Grid Menu and select Install Texture Mapping scene or click here. This will launch your web browser, and take you directly to the scenes available for download.
All scenes are categorised into tabs: Textiles, Surfaces & Wallcoverings
Click on the tab which suits your market, and browse the available scenes.
To download a scene, simply click on its preview. You will be asked to confirm that you wish to download that file.Click OK, and the full colour scene will open directly into AVA.
All downloaded scenes will automatically be saved to the following location on your hard drive:
Home User > Library > Application Support > AVA > MaterializeScenes
If you try to download one which has already been dowloaded you will see the following message:
If a scene is moved outside the MaterializeScenes folder, AVA will not recognise that the file already exists on your hard drive if you try to download it again and therefore you will not be given the option to open the existing file.
How to use the pre-gridded scenes
- Activate the layers in your design that you want to transfer into the scene.
- In the scene, activate the grid layers you want to transfer your design onto.
- Go to Grid Menu > Transfer Draft or Transfer High, depending on whether you want to transfer in draft mode, or at a higher quality.
Creating your own Texture Mapping Scenes
If you prefer to use your own scenes rather than the preexisting scenes, it is very simple to do this with AVA. The first step is to mask your scene, creating selections to transfer your design into. For more information on this please click here.
Shadow/Highlight layers
The next step in the process would be to create your shadow and highlight layers, these add to the 3D effect of your design. To follow instructions on how to do this please see the 'Creating Shadow and Highlight' article.
Gridding your scene
The next step in creating your own scene is to add grid layers, there are 3 types of grid you can use in AVA depending on the object you are gridding. For more information on gridding walls, please click here.
Transferring your design
Finally you are able to transfer your design and all colourways onto your scene. There are two ways to do this, either using layers or images. To find out how to transfer separated files onto a Texture Mapping scene please click here. For information on transferring images please see this article.
